Honestly, I don’t understand Tumblr staff trying to alienate it’s old userbase. The layout hasn’t really changed in more than a decade.
I understand wanting to attract new users and to make them feel more at home. But I don’t think it should come at the price of your already loyal userbase. New people might not stick around. People who have been here for a decade should not be taken for granted.
I also do not understand the urge to make every website on the entire internet the same. Tumblr has always prided itself in being weird and different. What happend now?
I’m not exited about the direction the staff are taking, as I do not belive it to be the best course of action in the long run.
I urge users to write their feedback to staff through the support page under feedback category.
I do not belive they will revert the changes, so instead I suggested to make a toggle to switch between the layouts like we have with the text editor.
